And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”* Worship is all about rightly responding to God's infinite worth.  Jesus said the Greatest Command in the Bible is to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength (Mark 12:30). We are called to worship Him with not just a few hours on Sunday morning, but our entire lives (Romans 12:1-2). With that said, there's something special about intentionally worshiping with brothers and sisters (Psalm 22:22; Colossians 3:16; Hebrews 10:25). Children up through first grade leave the sanctuary before the sermon time for a special teaching/activity time. You'll see people in shorts, people in suits, and people in between. We don't care what you wear; We just care that you're there! We're convinced that according to the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20), baptism isn't the finish line for the Christian life, but only the starting point. And until the Lord finishes His work in us (Philippians 1:6), we'll keep looking to grow. Just like kids learn and mature as they grow, we want to do the same as disciples. We want to learn more about God and His Word, so that we can know *Him* more (Colossians 1:9-10). And we want to put that knowledge into action so that we mature in our character as Christians (Ephesians 4:1-3, 15-16; Colossians 1:28). The Christian life is a life of service. Jesus Himself said "even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many" (Mark 10:45). We're commanded to serve each other individually (Gal. 6:10), but also especially through the ministries of the local church (1 Corinthians 12). We each have a role to play and a gift to use, and until we're using our gifts to serve each other and the church, neither we nor the church will reach the potential of what God wants us to be. One of the greatest ways we are commanded to serve, however, is by taking the Good News of Jesus Christ to a world in desperate need of salvation. That the soul is of supreme value and stands accountable to God individually. There is one and only one Mediator, the Lord Jesus Christ. Every member of the Church is equal in the sight of God. We believe the Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired, and is a perfect treasure of heavenly instruction; that it has God for its author, salvation of its end and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter; that it reveals the principles by which God will judge us, and therefore is, and shall remain to the end of the world, the true center of Christian union, and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and opinions should be tried. (Romans 14:12; 1 Timothy 2:5; 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21) 2\. That there is one and only one, true and living God, the maker and supreme ruler of heaven and earth; inexpressibly glorious in holiness; worthy of all possible honor, confidence and love; revealed under the personal and relative distinctions of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; equal in ever divine perfection and executing distinct, but harmonious offices in the great work of redemption. (Genesis 1:1-17; Isaiah 44:6-8; Hebrews 2:9-10) 3\. We believe that God created man holy and under a law which, had it been obeyed, would have secured for him eternal life; but by voluntary disobedience, he fell from his holy estate, and in consequence, spiritual, temporal, and eternal death has been entailed upon the human race; and that, while there is no way to escape temporal death, there is deliverance from spiritual and eternal death through the saving power of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Genesis 1:27; Genesis 3:6-24; Isaiah 53:6; Romans 5:19; Ephesians 2:1-3) 4\. We believe that salvation is wholly of grace through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, procured solely by the atonement and righteousness of Christ. (Isaiah 53:4-5; John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8; Hebrews 7:25) 5\. We believe in personal and eternal election according to the everlasting love and purpose of God. (Romans 8: 28-31; 2 Thessalonians 2:13-14; 2 Timothy 1:8-9) 6\. We believe that justification is by faith alone; that justification consists in the pardon of sin and the promise of eternal life, on principles of righteousness; that it is bestowed not in consideration of any works of righteousness which we have done, but solely through his own redemption and righteousness; that it brings us into a state of most blessed peace and favor with God and secures every other blessing needful for time and eternity. (Romans 5:1; Galatians 2:16; Ephesians 2:8-9) 7\. That the blessings of salvation are made free to all by the Gospel; that it is the immediate duty of all to accept them by a cordial and obedient faith, and that nothing prevents the salvation of the greatest sinner on earth, except his own voluntary refusal to submit to the Lord Jesus Christ, which refusal will subject him to any aggravated condemnation. (Isaiah 55:3-7; Ezekiel 33:11; John 3:16; John 5:40; Revelation 22:17) 8\. That in order to be saved, we must be regenerated, or born again; that regeneration consists in giving a holy disposition to the mind, and is affected by the power of the Holy Spirit, through the instrumentality of the word of God, so as to secure our voluntary obedience to the Gospel, and that its proper evidence is found in the holy fruit which we bring forth to the glory of God; that election is the gracious purpose of God, according to which he regenerates, sanctifies and saves sinners. (John 3:3-8; Ephesians 6:17; 2 Thessalonians 2:13) 9\. We believe in the final perseverance of all saints. (John 8:31; John 10:27-30; Philippians 1:6) 10\. We believe that a visible church is a congregation of baptized believers, united for the purpose of worshipping God, and promoting the cause of true religion, in accordance with the revealed laws and ordinances of the gospel, and that its officers as required by the New Testament are the Bishop or Pastor and Deacons. (Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:41-42; 1 Corinthians 1:1-13; 1 Corinthians 11:2; Philippians 1:1-27) 11\. We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion in water of a believer in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:41-43; Acts 8:36; Romans 6:4) 12\. We believe that the Lord’s Supper was instituted in holy remembrance of Christ, “to show for the Lord’s death till He come;” that it is purely a church ordinance, in which none should participate who have not been admitted into a church by Christian baptism. (Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:41-42; 1 Corinthians 11:26-28) 13\. That every church is independent in matters of discipline; and that Associations, Councils, and Conferences of several ministers or churches, are not to impose on the churches, the keeping, holding or maintaining any principle or practice contrary to the Church’s judgment. (Acts 15:22; Acts 20:28) 14\. That the first day of the week is the Lord’s Day, or Christian Sabbath, and is to be kept sacred to religious purposes. (John 20:19; Acts 15:21; Acts 20:7) 15\. That the end of this world is approaching; and at the last day, Christ will descend from Heaven and raise the dead from the grave to final retribution; and that a solemn separation will then take place; that the wicked will be judged to endless punishment, and the righteous to endless joy; and that this judgment will fix forever the final state of all people in heaven or hell. (Matthew 24:30; Matthew 25:46; 2 Corinthians 5:10) 16\. We believe marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime. It is God’s unique gift to reveal the union between Christ and His church and to provide for the man and woman in marriage the framework for intimate companionship, the channel of sexual expression according to biblical standards, and the means for procreation of the human race. The Bible is God’s inspired, authoritative, and infallible Word. 2. There is one God eternally existing in three distinct but equal Persons: The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. 3. Every human being is made in the image of God and therefore has intrinsic value. 4. Humanity’s natural condition is one of sin and separation from God. 5. Jesus Christ, the sinless Son of God, died on the cross and rose bodily from the grave to take the punishment for our sins and reconcile us to God. 6. Salvation is a free gift of God’s grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ. 7. The local church, a covenant community of baptized believers, is God’s plan to grow believers and reach the world. 8. It is important for believers to participate in the ordinances of the church. Baptism by immersion testifies to the believer’s faith and new life in Christ. Communion memorializes Jesus’ death and anticipates His return. 9. Sundays are special. 10. Forasmuch as Almighty God by His grace hath called us out of darkness into His marvelous light, and all of us having been baptized upon a profession of our faith in Christ Jesus, and have given up ourselves to the Lord and to one another in a Gospel Church way, we do, therefore, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by His assistance, covenant and agree to keep up the discipline, maintenance, and promotion of the church in the most brotherly and affectionate manner toward one another while we endeavor faithfully to observe the following rules, viz: 1\. In brotherly love to pray for one another, to watch over one another, and if need be, to reprove one another in the most affectionate manner according to the directions given by our Lord--that is, if we discover anything amiss in anyone, and not to be whispering, backbiting, or in any way injuring another. 2\. In a Christ-like way, to walk circumspectly in the world, abstaining from all unchristian business or activities. 3\. We do also covenant and agree, by God's help, to pray in our families, to attend regularly our church meetings and the communion of the Lord's Supper, to observe the Lord's day and keep it holy, to worship Scripturally with our means for support of the church and the spread of the Gospel, to accept places of responsibility and service, to seek the salvation of the lost, and not to irregularly depart from the fellowship of the church nor remove to distant churches without a regular letter of transferral. 4\. These things, and all other things necessary and pleasing to the Lord, we do covenant and agree to keep sacred in the name of, and by the assistance of the Holy Trinity, Amen. Hey there, I’m Stafford Beasley, Pastor at Cashie Baptist. If you’re watching this video, that means someone who knows Jesus tried to give you just a glimpse of God’s love. And if you give me just a couple minutes, I want to tell you about that, because it’s the greatest story the world has ever known. And the best things about it are 1) it’s totally true, and 2) God wants to write you into it. See, in the beginning God created everything–from the galaxies to the groundhogs. But the crowning glory of His creation was people. God made the first man and woman, He looked around at everything, and He said it was very good. Everything was in harmony—nature, animals, humanity. The man and woman knew God, they walked with God, they loved God. But then they disobeyed God. They broke the command that He had given them for their own good. God calls that sin.  And because humanity sinned against a good God and was separated from Him, from that point on in the world there’s been disease, disaster, destruction, and death. You don’t have to look very far to see that–just turn on the news. Or maybe you’ve been touched by it in your own life recently. And people try all sorts of things to get out of that brokenness–maybe if I get enough money, maybe if I do enough good things, maybe if I find the perfect spouse, I’ll finally fix what’s broken in life.  Some people turn to more destructive things–drugs or sex or alcohol–anything to numb that feeling. But the problem is, we know that none of these things can ultimately fix what’s wrong. They might seem to help for a little while, but they can’t pull us out of it. We all live in that brokenness, and we’ve all *contributed* to that brokenness–we haven’t loved God like we should, we haven’t loved each other like we should. We’ve all sinned, we’ve all been separated from God. But He’s a good Judge. No matter how caring and loving a Judge may be, if He doesn’t uphold justice and punish wrongdoing, then He’s not doing His job. So the brokenness in the world–the destruction, disaster, and death are part of that judgment for humanity’s rejection of Him. But there’s a further judgment that we’ll face. One day each of us will stand before God and give account to Him for everything that we’ve done. Every word we’ve said. Every thought we’ve had. And none of us stands a chance on our own, because we’ve all disobeyed. And so on that day He’ll give us what we’ve asked for–separation from Him. He’ll cut us off from Himself and all His goodness and all His joy–the life that He gives… permanently. But I said that this is a radical love story. Because God loved us so much that even though we were still fighting against him and disobeying His good commands–even though He knew we would never clean up our act and come to Him, He came to rescue us. To make us whole. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to live a perfect life. He didn’t sin at all. He obeyed all of God’s good commands, so that what He deserved wasn’t condemnation or death, but glory and reward. He didn’t deserve to die. And yet He chose to. He loved us so much that He volunteered to die on the cross and take all of our sins, all of our judgment. Death was our punishment for disobeying God, and He died in our place. And the great news is that God took His punishment on our behalf–they’re paid in full, and He proved that by raising Jesus from the dead. He walked out of the tomb on the third day, defeating sin, defeating death, and offering forgiveness and wholeness and everlasting life to anyone who will receive it. Admit that you’re a sinner and you need God’s forgiveness. Believe that Jesus died in your place and rose from the grave so that you can be forgiven. Turn from your sins and trust in Him. The Bible says *if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.* That’s a promise. One day this same Jesus will return from heaven and we’ll see Him face-to-face. And everyone who has trusted in Him will live in a new world, one that has no more disease, disaster, destruction, or death. And we’ll be with Him, our Savior, forever and ever. It’s the greatest story the world has ever known. The story of God’s radical love. It’s totally true, and God wants to write you into it. But He doesn’t love like we love. We use the term *love* in all sorts of different ways: “I love pizza.” “I love Rom-coms.” “I love my friends.” “I love my wife.” And our love is often fickle, morphing and ebbing and flowing with the situation. But God’s is not–He never changes (Heb. 13:8), and His deep love for us never changes. But how does God show His love for us? Well, the Bible tells us that “God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). Notice that it says God *shows*–not just in the past, but in the present. He *continues to show* us just how much He loves us by pointing to what Jesus Christ did for us. But why Jesus have to come? God tells us four things by sending Jesus. *For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.* (Romans 3:23) Have you ever told a lie? Have you ever stolen anything? Have you ever looked at someone with lust? (Jesus tells us that if we’ve done that last one, we’ve committed adultery with that person. See Matthew 5:27-28). Well if you answered yes to those three questions (most of us probably did), then that makes you a lying, thieving adulterer. And that’s just scratching the surface! The truth is that all of us have broken God’s perfect law. That’s called sin. And if God is a good Judge, He has to punish sin. It can be a terrifying truth that at the end of our lives, we each will give an account to God for what we’ve done (Hebrews 9:27). 2\. God loves you anyway. *For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.* (John 3:16) This is where things get good. Even though we have turned our backs on God, He still loves us. That verse from Romans 5 at the top of this page tells us that Christ came “while we were still sinners.” That means that God loves you *before* you get your life together and stop sinning. No matter what you’ve done and no matter where you’ve been. See, Christianity isn’t a religion of *do-better*. It’s not about trying harder. You can’t earn God’s love–He gave it while you were still fighting against Him. And He did it by sending Jesus. 3\. Jesus died and rose for your sins. *For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received; that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures* (1 Corinthians 15:3) We said earlier that if God is a good Judge (and He is–see Psalm 89:14), then He must punish sin. A good judge can’t just let a murder go unpunished. And this is why Jesus came. Jesus, the Son of God, lovingly chose to take our place–He became a human, He lived a perfectly obedient life (He didn’t sin), and He was crucified on a cross. And while He was dying on the cross, God punished Him for everything I’ve done wrong. Everything you’ve done wrong. For anyone who believes in Him, so that God might be “just and justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus” (Romans 3:26). So God didn’t just sweep your sins under the rug–no, He placed those sins on Jesus, and Jesus took the punishment for them, instead of you. 4\. You can be saved from your sins. *If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.* (Romans 10:9) This is the Good News (called the *Gospel*): after Jesus died to take our punishment, He didn’t stay dead. On the third day He rose from the grave, proving that He had finished the work He came to do. The resurrection is God’s stamp of approval on Jesus’ sacrifice for our sins. Jesus has done everything necessary for us to be saved. All we do is believe in and follow Him. We’re saved only by the grace of God, through faith in Jesus Christ. But that faith then works itself out in our lives by fighting sin and pursuing holiness (Philippians 2:12). And if you want to be saved from the judgment and power and condemnation for your sins, it’s really as simple as A,B,C. If you’re ready to do that, maybe it’s time to pray something like this. It’s not the words that save you–they should come from a heart that is surrendered to Christ. *Lord, I know that I have sinned against You. I have broken Your Law and have done wrong. But I thank You that even though You are a Perfect Judge, You showed Your love for me. I believe that Jesus died for my sins and that He rose again. I trust in Him and I ask for forgiveness. Please save me from my sins and help me to live for You. It’s only because of what Jesus has done that I ask this. Amen.* If you are a new follower of Jesus, then the wonderful journey of your new life has just begun. Remember, Christianity isn’t primarily a religion of *do*, but of *believe*. Lay down your crown and let Him be the King of your life. - The Bible. This is how God has spoken to us. He tells us about who He is, what He is doing, and what He will do. As His children, He gives us some family rules to follow as well for our good. (2 Timothy 3:16-17). If you don’t have a Bible of your own, give us a call–we’d be glad to get one to you. - Prayer. God loves to hear from His children (1 Peter 5:7). You don’t have to be “good” at praying–you’re simply talking to the God who saved you! In good times or bad, God loves to hear from you, and He delights to answer our prayers (Matthew 7:7-11). - The Local Church. It is important to be connected to a Bible-believing local church. This community of believers will support and strengthen you in your faith (Ephesians 4:11-16). If you’re in the area, we’d love for you to join us at Cashie Baptist. Despite persecution, its small congregation soon built a one room, 45 square foot building, naming the newly formed church Cashie Baptist, after the river that flows throughout the community. After hundreds of years of service, Cashie carries a rich and colorful history. While our size, demographics, and style of worship have changed greatly over the centuries, our mission has not. We have always strived to create a community of faith where the people of this area can grow in Christ together and know a sense of belonging and purpose. Whether it's the fellowship found in a small bible study, a teaching on Sunday that inspires you, or simply the knowledge that there are people here who care and pray for you, Cashie's greatest strength lies within its people. No matter who you are or where you are in your faith, we have a place for you at Cashie. We hope you'll become a part of what God is doing at Cashie Baptist Church. Windsor has been home to Cashie Baptist since 1770. This historic town is the seat of Bertie County, an area well known for its picturesque back roads, large tracts of farmland, abundant wildlife, and winding rivers. Despite all the natural beauty found in our community, we believe that our most important resource is the people with whom we share it. Our love for our community has led our Baptist Men’s group to develop a handyman service for families and individuals in need. This group has also formed a disaster response unit and is equipped with a trailer to meet the needs of victims of natural disasters both near and far. Several new outreach efforts have been launched.  Here at Cashie we love to support families and foster healthy homes. (Romans 10:15) "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23) **On our own, we can't escape our sin or the punishment for it.** "...by works of the law no one will be justified." (Galatians 2:16) **God send His Son Jesus to live a sinless life that we could never live.** "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son..." (John 3:16) **In love, Jesus laid down His life and took God's punishment that we deserve for our sins.** "But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8) "In Christ God was reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them...For our sake He made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God." (2 Corinthians 5:19 , 21) "For I delivered to you as of first important what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures." (1 Corinthians 15:3-4) **He offers forgiveness, reconciliation with God, and everlasting life.** "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life." (John 3:16) "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9) **All we do to receive that free gift of salvation is ask for forgiveness, turn from our sins, and trust in Him.** "The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now He commands all people everywhere to repent, because He has fixed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom He has appointed; and of this He has given assurance to all by raising Him from the dead." (Acts 17:30-31) "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved...For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans 10:9 , 13) Hey, I want to give you some good news. Really, the best news ever. But first I want to explain why there is so much bad news in the world. Because everywhere we turn we see evil, sickness, disaster. It hasn’t always been like this. In the beginning, God created everything good. Everything got along with each other. He made man and woman, and He put them in charge of His creation. And He gave them a command–He said if you obey Me, you’ll live–but if you disobey, you’ll die. Well, that first man and woman disobeyed God–they sinned against Him, and when they did, disease and destruction and death entered the world. And every single person since then has sinned as well, so we’ve all contributed. And the real problem for us is that that Creator God–the One who made us–He’s a just and righteous God. Which is good in a way, because we all long for justice–we want the bad guys to get caught, we want the record to be set straight. But it’s also bad for us, because we’ve all broken God’s Law–we’ve lied, we’ve lusted, we haven’t loved Him or other people like we should And as a Good Judge He can’t just sweep that under the rug. He has to punish sin, He has to punish evil. So on our own, we don’t stand a chance in God’s judgment. We can’t do enough good or avoid enough bad to tip the scales in our favor. If you break the temporary law of a temporary country, you get a temporary punishment. But if you break the eternal law of an eternal God your punishment is eternal. His justice demands it. Because this Creator God is so kind and merciful and gracious and loving, He sent His own Son–God the Son took on flesh and became a man named Jesus. And He perfectly obeyed God’s law in a way that we never could. He lived a totally sinless life–a life that we could never live. But then He willingly laid down His life. He died on a cross, and when He died on that cross, He took on all of the punishment that we deserve for our sins. He took the judgment and He died the death that we deserve. But then on the third day He rose from the grave, proving that He had defeated sin, He had overcome death for us. So that if we want to be forgiven, if we want to have a relationship with this Creator God who loves us more than we can imagine, if we want to have everlasting life, all we do is turn from our sins–lay down our weapons–stop fighting against Him. And believe in Him. Ask Him to forgive us, not based on anything we’ve done, but because of what He did for us on the cross. And He tells us that if we confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead, we will be saved. And that’s Great News, because one day He’ll come back. And He’ll make everything new. No more sickness, no more suffering, no more struggles, even death itself will be done away with. There will be no more bad news. Turn from your sins and trust in Jesus. Because He’s won the battle for you and He offers you a free gift of eternal life and a relationship with God your Creator.  Cashie Baptist Church   |   221 S.
